Govt & JICA recommit to restoring Lao forest cover

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will continue supporting the Lao government in expanding the goal of restoring national forest cover to 70 per cent by 2020 through the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) Support Project.

JICA in cooperation with the Department of Forestry under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry yesterday revised and planned future forest management strategies for Laos at the 5th Joint Coordinating Committee Meeting of REDD.
